Abstract 正常性周期を示す31頭のラットの子宮頸管を結紮して79~88日後に剖検し, 13頭の17子宮角にHydrometraの発生を認めた. これらの症例は, 子宮腔に混濁ないし軽度混濁液, または透明液を貯留しており, 前者では子宮内膜炎の併発例が多く, 後者ではそれが少なかった. 子宮内膜炎併発例の子宮腔液からは1例を除いてStreptococcus sp.(Str.), P. pneumotropica (P.P.), Proteus sp.のうち1~2種の細菌が107/ml以上検出され, その他の症例の子宮腔液は細菌数106/ml以下, または無菌であった. いっぽう, 正常性周期の発情前期子宮腔液は無菌例が多いが, 細菌汚染例では103~105/ml程度のStr.やP.P.がみられた. 次に, 予め子宮腔内細菌の有無を調べた14頭のラット(細菌陽性子宮角14例, 陰性10例)において, 子宮結紮, 卵巣除去後estradiol 0.2μg/日の20日間皮下注射によりHydrometraの発生は認められず, 子宮内膜炎もほとんどの例に陰性で, わずかに細菌陽性群の3例に認められた. 以上の結果から, Hydrometraの子宮腔液は子宮内細菌の増殖を誘発し, その結果として惹起される子宮内膜の炎症により, Hydrometraは種々の修飾像を呈するものと解された. したがって, Hydrometraを含めてこれらの異常子宮をHydrometra-endometritis complexとして統括するのが妥当と思われる.
