Deux préexpérimentations réalisées à partir d'une banque de 20 items ont permis d'établir une version définitive du test de conscience phonologique composé de 10 items. La validité et la fidélité de cette version ont été évaluées auprès de 117 enfants, dont 57 avant leur entrée en maternelle et 60 en fin de maternelle. Les caractéristiques psychométriques, en ce qui a trait à la fidélité et à la validité, se sont avérées satisfaisantes pour les enfants de fin maternelle mais non pour les enfants évalués avant leur entrée en maternelle.
This study describes the steps in developing and validating a French-language instrument to measure phonological awareness. The selected task involves ranking - from a list of four words presented orally, the subject must choose the word that begins differently than the others. To decrease the mnestic difficulty of the test, illustrations accompany the words. Two pre-experiments using a bank of 20 items led to preparation of a final version of the phonological awareness test, which consists of 10 items. The validity and reliability of this version were assessed using 117 children - 57 pre-schoolers and 60 students approaching the end of the kindergarten year. In terms of validity and reliability, the psychometric features of the test were deemed satisfactory for the kindergarten students but deficient for the pre-schoolers. |
