Prepared under the auspices of the ASCE Environmental Engineering Division, this manual reports on a survey of the professional community to determine which contaminated ground water models are in frequent use, classifies these models according to a unified set of criteria developed by this task committee, and formulates guidelines on the application of these models describing capabilities and limitations. Characteristics of widely used ground water models to improve the understanding of the methodologies accepted by regulatory agencies are reviewed and model selection guidance is provided.
