Recent research studies continue to show that learning in all subjects, whether it be math or drama, flourishes in nature. Neuroscience also demonstrates that cognition is refreshed after just a few moments outside and that nature inspires creativity. Holistic education is a growing field of inquiry that values the whole student-body, mind and spirit. Teaching and learning in this field is situated within the fundamental realities of the cosmos, its pedagogical practices are evidenced in such educational fields as Indigenous Education, Waldorf and Montessori schools. Yoga, meditation, mindfulness and forest bathing have become popular in the last few years. At the center of the book is a story of six former drama students who explored these mind body practices through childhood, adolescence and into their adult years. Teachers and researchers may learn how these practices influence individuation and a sensitivity to collective well-being. The participants reflect on their experiences with mind-body exploration and grapple with how they understand their own consciousness as they reconnect with nature through the seasons"--  |c Provided by publisher.
