Abstract: The article discusses history textbooks and the implementation of new analytical tools for interpreting history such as historiography books. The author comments on history materials and teaching aids to assist history teachers, the history of history teaching, and intertextuality. Discourse analysis, ideas from the French Jesuit scholar and author Michel de Certeau, and history handbooks and manuals. Other topic include ideas from French semiotician, philosopher, and historian Roland Barthes and the impact of technological and educational innovations in the 19th century.
